Premium Web Cart Review

Here’s my experience and Premium Web Cart review. I signed up for Premium Web Cart a few months ago. I was testing various alternatives in order to get the most bank for my buck. The trial was $4.97 so I jumped in and dedicated a focused 4 hours towards testing. The system seemed relatively “ok”…but there were a few things that concerned me.
- I ran across numerous bugs while navigating the system. There were enough bugs to frustrate me immensely. For example, link redirects with conversion tracking simply didn’t work. The “Members Pro” concept wasn’t anywhere as impressive as their salespage made it sound (plus it was downright confusing to setup).
- Also, their system works in a very weird way. They use a bunch of different internal domain names to host each feature they offer. For example, they use pwcproject.com for project management, pwcmembers.com for the Member Pro feature, pwcanswers.com for the Answers feature, etc. As an admin, you “jump” from one site to the next using what appears to be PHP Session ID’s. It really gave me the impression of being “hacked together” as an afterthought as opposed to being built properly from the beginning. I’m not implying it is “hacked together”, I’m simply saying it gave me that overall feeling. I’m also not interested in sending my customers to 5 different links (that don’t belong to me) in order for them to receive 5 different services.
In my brief 4 hours of using Premium Web Cart, I was filled with confusion, frustration and an overall feeling of “incompleteness”. Things didn’t flow very well and everything seemed disconnected. When I called to cancel, the rep was apologetic and tried to save the sale by asking me to speak with someone else. I declined and got my cancellation. Kudos to them for being responsive in that regard (and trying to save a sale as well).
Now, since the 4 hours sounds a bit hasty, let me explain a bit more. It was 4 solid, focused hours of training videos, implementation and testing. I’m an extreme techie that knows my way around systems with my eyes closed. I’ve been doing this for a long time. So don’t take my 4 hours lightly….I charge 4 figures for them.
In comparison, with Nanacast, I was able to learn, setup, migrate content, import members and convert an existing site in 6 hours. It was the fastest setup I’ve ever done.
And for the skeptical, here’s my Premium Web Cart Receipt.
Thanks for the honest review. I too have been trying Premium Web Cart and while the functionality is very impressive, the usability is a major issue. I too am pretty system savvy having been a project manager of major corporate systems and responsible for functional design. I found the jump from module to module extremely irritating too as the main web cart system seems to time you out without warning and asks you to login to the different modules which have system assigned passwords that you don’t even know. You have to go back to the main cart, refresh the page to get the login screen and retrace your steps. Aargh!
Although there are some reasonable video tutorials to cover the basics, there isn’t a help system and no user guide. It is a shame that such a seemingl sophisticated package lets itself down by making it almost impossible to use.
